Fundraise to protect children from coronavirus

Hello flamenco friends!

Firstly, thank you so much for being here at the KW Flamenco Fest, and more specifically on this "clickathon" page. My guess is that, if you are virtually attending the KW Flamenco Fest, you probably have an electronic device and internet... And so you probably also have running water and soap (so very important during a pandemic!)

I, Claudia, have always quite liked UNICEF's work. UNICEF helps children and families around the globe who are in need of basic sustenance. I think fondly of the organization and remember taking part in their fundraisers when I was in elementary school.

The charity is working with local governments, the WHO and other agencies to prevent the coronavirus outbreak from spreading further by:

  • Providing critical hygiene and medical supplies,
  • Leading education and engagement activities in at-risk communities,
  • Ensuring that children and pregnant or lactating women are supported with adequate healthcare,
  • Facilitating continued access to education, and
  • Providing psychosocial support to those living in communities where schools have been closed or quarantined.

Now, while Covid-19 symptoms may not present themselves as strongly in children as in adults (and thank goodness for that), we all know that children need their caregivers.

Your donation today will help ensure that UNICEF can protect children and families from the spread of infection by providing urgently needed medical supplies to countries hit hardest by novel coronavirus. Perhaps the KW Flamenco Fest (Julian and I and our guests) can help "spread" germ-fighting resources such as water and soap.

And for fun, take a photo of yourself doing flamenco floreo (hands) or palmas (clapping) while they're sudsy, and then share it with us on social media! Actually, you might want to get someone to take the picture for you, seeing as your hands will be covered in soap :).

Sincerely,

Claudia (& Julian)
