What is the Run 4 Kids?

The Run 4 Kids is usually an in-person fundraising 5k run/walk supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butler County. There is no denying the time of uncertainty we are in, but we believe in adapting and serving all of the children in our program in these challenging times. We are adapting to current events and going virtual! Interested parties can register as a participant and will create a page to seek support from their friends, family, and coworkers to fundraise while still practicing social distancing. 


Virtual 5k? How does that work?

Between the dates of April 18th and May 16th, we are asking you to challenge yourself to run or walk a 5k. This will not take place at one specific location - it will take place wherever you are and where you like to walk or run. This is your personal challenge and can be completed anywhere and anytime.


How do I complete the 5k?

Essentially, you complete the Run4Kids when you’ve run or walked a 5k. Since this is a virtual event, you should decide when you hit your goal. There is no reason to stop at 5k! Motivate yourself to run a 10k or even a half marathon! Support the mentoring of at-risk youth by challenging yourself to being physically active in any form you physically can! What is the registration fee?

The cost for all 5k participants is $25. The cost for Kids Fun Run participants (under age 10) is $10.


What is included with my registration fee?

For registered 5k participants, a certificate of completion and a t-shirt are included in the registration fee. If you take advantage of your fundraising page and raise $50, you will receive a tumbler. If you raise $100, a sweatshirt will be included in your goodie bag. For registered Kids Fun Run participants, a medal is included with the registration fee.


When will I receive my items?

Whether you are expecting a t-shirt, a medal, or additional fundraising prizes, you should count on them arriving in the mail after the virtual event concludes in late May. 


What is the Kids Fun Run? How does that work?

The Kids Fun Run is for children under age 10 who want to be part of the fun without completing a 5k. The Fun Run can be anything the child wants it to be - sprinting from one point to another, chasing their pet around the yard, completing an obstacle course they design - the sky is the limit! We encourage kids to use their imagination, and we encourage parents, grandparents, or guardians to take a video and send it to us! We'll be awarding prizes to the most creative Fun Runs, and all registered Fun Run participants will receive a medal in the mail that they can proudly wear or display!


How do I register?

Go to the Register button and complete the form. You will be guided through the registration process. Once your transaction is complete, you will receive a confirmation email receipt with a link to your fundraising webpage. 


I want to form a Company Team. What do I need to do?

Companies must first be added to the site by an administrator prior to team creation.  Reach out to Ashley Wilson with the contact information of someone who can act as the Leader/Coordinator for your company and help create the publicly viewable page for the company as a whole. Once this page is created, individuals can create/register for teams at this company by simply searching for its name on the registration page.


Do I need to personalize my page?

People who edit their page to talk about why they are raising money for Big Brothers Big Sisters raise a lot more money. It only takes a few minutes to add a picture and a few words. 


How can I see who has donated to me and who has joined my team?

Sign in to your personal page (HQ) to view sponsors and teammates.


Can friends and family make a donation to me by going through the main website?

Yes. On the home page of the website, friends and family can locate you by clicking on the "Donate" button. By typing in your name, they will be directed to your personalized fundraising page.


Can my sponsors pay by cash or check?

Sure! You can enter your donations into your HQ and then mail everything to our office and we'll credit the money to your personal fundraising goal. 


Where does the money raised from this event go?

100% of the money raised through The Run 4 Kids stays here in our community. We depend on the money raised from this event to carry out the work of carefully matching children with caring adult mentors and providing ongoing support to the child, volunteer mentor and child's family. Why is search not finding a participant that I know has registered?

You must type in the first name or last name of the participant exactly how they entered it when they registered. Try using just the first few letters of someone's name if you're not sure how it's spelled. If you are still having a problem locating a participant that you are sure has registered, please contact us.


How can I see who has donated to me?

Sign in to your HQ. You can then view your donor list and the amounts that have been donated. 


All of my donors are not showing up on the scroll mechanism. Why?

Some donors prefer to keep their gifts anonymous. When someone makes a donation, they can choose if they would like to have their name, donation amount, and/or a message appear on your personal page.


Is my information secure?

Yes. Engaging Networks has made every effort to protect your information. They use industry-standard SSL encryption techniques to make sure that your credit card information, passwords, and personal information travel securely over the Internet. There is also an encryption engine on their database server so that your data is securely stored.


What is the long website address in my confirmation receipt?

This website address will take you to your personal donation page. This address link is automatically included in any emails that are sent through the email center in event headquarters after you have logged into the website. You can also copy and paste this link into any other form of email.
